Interstate 481 exit listing

Runs from Interstate 81 Exit 16A to Interstate 81 Exit 29 and then continues as NY Route 481.
Runs through Onondaga and Oswego Counties.
Length is 19 miles.
First section completed was originally numbered Interstate 281 for about a year.
As of January 2007, mileposts have never been installed on Interstate 481.
First section completed was from Jamesville Rd to Interstate 690 in the early 1970s.
Second section completed was from Interstate 690 to I-90 in the 1970s.
Third section completed was from Jamesville Rd south to I-81 in the late 70s/early 80s. (NYSDOT photologs indicate that the Interstates 81 & 481 interchange was under construction in 1976).
Last section from Interstate 90 north to Interstate 81/NY Route 481 was completed in late 1985.
Some development maps show Interstate 481 being extended in a northwest direction from Interstate 81 Exit 16 to the NY Route 5/Genesee Street interchange in Fairmount.
