Interstate 890


I-590 [NY 890]
  • Runs from NY Route 5 near Scotia to Thruway Interchange 25 via Schenectady.
  • Counties: Schenectady and Albany.
  • Length: 8.9 miles.
  • One portion signed concurrently with NY Route 7. Interchanges with NY Route 5S and Interstate 90 reconfigured in 1997, bridge to NY Route 5 is technically NY Route 890 and is sporadically signed as such.
  • Exits are numbered by milepost, a NYSDOT experiment from the 1970s. Unfortunately, the exits are spaced so that aside from Exit 4C, you wouldn't really know that the numbers are distance based. Too bad this style of exit numbering didn't catch on in the rest of the state.
